The Golden Lions drum and bugle corps was formed in 1969 and sponsored by the Simcoe Lions Club.

The corps succeeded the Royal Blues senior corps, entering the field of competition in 1970, placing 7th in the Ontario Provincial “Class B” championships. The following year, the corps improved to a 5th place finish in the 1971 Provincials and participated in the Western Ontario circuit, where they finished in 7th position in 1971 & 1972 along with their first appearance in the Canadian Nationals, placing 8th in the “Class B” preliminaries. After a season of parades and exhibitions, the corps returned to the field in 1974, placing 2nd in the “Class C” division of the Western Ontario circuit contest.

Over the next 3 years, the Simcoe group participated in the “Class C” division of the Canadian Nationals, placing 8th in 1975, 2nd in 1976 and won both the 1977 Provincials & Nationals “Class C” titles. The last three seasons were rebuilding years, as they placed 2nd in the 1978 Canadian Nationals “Novice Class”, with limited activity in 1979, competing in the “Cadet Class” of the Ontario Drum Corps Association and finally participated in the 1980 DCI Canada “Cadet Class”. placing 6th, closing out with a 4th place finish in the Ontario Provincials.

Due to a lack of interest, they disbanded in 1981.
