In July of 1966, the Little Dukes drum & bugle corps was founded by former members of the Dukes senior corps under the leadership of Lawrence Gorke, corps director and Raymond Kadish, business manager and was sponsored by the Perth Amboy American Legion (AL) Post 45.

In their inaugural year, the corps performed as a parade unit before entering the field of competition in 1968 as members of the Garden State Circuit (GSC) and participated in the NJ AL state convention, placing 14th. The following season, the corps relocated to Old Bridge under new sponsorship from the Old Bridge AL Post 435, continuing their progression in 1969 GSC contests and improved to an impressive 8th place finish in the AL state championships.

In 1970, the corps, now known as the Dukes, entered GSC championship competition, placing 9th that year and 10th in 1971 and, as per their custom, contended in the AL state contests in both years, finishing in 10th in 1970 and11th in 1971.

They merged with the Imperial Guardsmen of Livingston in 1972 to form the Dukes of the Imperial Guard.
