The Gladiateurs drum and bugle corps was formed in January of 1963 by Mr. Fernand Aumais from the original Garde de St. Joseph.

In their inaugural year, times were difficult as there was little musical experience but they did manage to perform as a parade corps and also had the distinction of marching the first “All-Girls” color guard. In the fall of 1963, the Gladiateurs added Gerry Viau and Howard Lacey, from the Vics senior corps to their staff, which proved fruitful as the unit was crowned the 1964 “Class B” Provincial champions, their first competitive season. That corps’ new uniforms consisted of white blouses, red belts, black pants and a red & white shako. In 1965, the corps catapulted to 2nd position in the “Class A” division in the Provincial championships with Claude Durocher as musical director.

They disbanded in 1966.
