The Copper City Cadets drum and bugle corps was formed in February 1964 and sponsored by the Rome VFW Post 2246.
The corps was the immediate replacement for the Rome Cavaliers senior corps who went inactive that year, primarily because of the advancing age of its members and the imminent move toward youth.
They performed as a parade and exhibition unit, planning on entering the field of competition the following year. However, due to the loss of several members in 1965, they remained a parade corps until 1966, when they did compete that one season. Their instructional staff included Richard 'Ritch' Mitchell on percussion and David Bowers on brass.
They disbanded in 1967.
