The Grenadiers drum and bugle corps was originally formed in March of 1957 as the Kitsap County VFW 4th District Post of Bremerton.
The corps entered the field of competition in 1957, placing 2nd in the VFW state contest and went on to win 4 consecutive state championships from 1959 to 1962. They also became the Grenadiers in 1959 and remained active in state and regional parades and exhibitions, returning to the field in 1966 and 1967, under the sponsorship of the Manette American Legion Post 68 of Bremerton, placing 2nd in the American Legion (AL) state contests.
The Grenadiers won the 1968 & 1970 AL state titles along with the 1969 VFW state title. By 1969, the corps was listed as the only senior member of the Northwest Drum Corps Association on the entire West Coast. The Bremerton unit also competed in the 1970 AL Nationals, where they placed 4th in the preliminary round. From 1971 to 1983, the corps remained active as a parade and exhibition group.
They disbanded in 1984.
