In the fall of 1967, the Diplomats drum and bugle corps was organized by former members of the Red Rockets junior corps and the Armstrong Yellow Jackets senior corps, both of Johnsonburg, as a parade unit.

Their membership was primarily from Johnsonburg, Kane and Salamanca, performing in several local and regional parade contests and were crowned the 1971 New York-Pennsylvania parade champions. In the fall of that year, the Diplomats reorganized to participate in field competition for the 1972 season as members of the Red Carpet Association (RCA), placing 14th in the championship preliminaries.

Over the next two years, the corps returned to their roots as a parade unit and regrouped once again, competing in the RCA circuit, finishing 11th in 1975, moving up to an impressive 2nd place finish the following season and ranked 3rd in both 1977 & 1978. The Diplomats also entered in the DCA championship prelims in 1975 (17th), 1976 (16th) & 1978 (14th).

They disbanded in 1979.
