The Clippers “Senior” drum and bugle corps was organized in the fall of 1954 in Salem as an extension of the “Junior” program.
The corps entered the field of competition in 1955, sporting their blue and white uniforms with white shakos, placing 3rd in the MA VFW championships. They pursued competition for the next 2 years before relocating to Peabody in 1958 through a fusion with the Peabody Tanners parade corps. That season saw the Clippers become members of the Yankee circuit, placing 8th in the finals, returning the next year, finishing 11th in the preliminaries in the 1959 Yankee circuit contest.
In 1960, the corps gained membership in the Northeastern circuit where, wearing their blue and white blazers with white pants and straw hats, once again placed 11th in the championship prelims.
After a ruling from the Salem Superior court in April 1961 that left both Peabody corps unable to practice in their home site due to noise violations, the organization ultimately disbanded in 1961.
