The Emerald Buccaneers drum and bugle corps was formed in December of 1975 through a merger between the Emerald Cadets of New Haven and the Golden Buccaneers of Bridgeport, under the direction of Anthony Palumbo, Sr.

The corps traveled extensively in 1976, participating in the World Open “Class A”, Key to the Sea & American International Open “Open Class” preliminaries, placing 12th, 14th and 17th respectively on their way to 15th place finish in the prelims of the VFW Nationals. The highlights of their season emerged in the DCI “Class A” championships, when they placed 3rd in the finals and made an appearance in the prestigious CYO Nationals, finishing in 13th position. The Emerald Buccaneers closed out their season with a 7th place finish in the United Organization of Eastern Corps circuit.

Their instructional staff comprised of several well-known individuals, including Joe Genero, Kento Clarke & Frank Dorritie (consultant) on brass, John Bodnar, Anthony Palumbo Jr. & Bill Palumbo on percussion and Robert “Pepe” Notaro, Richard Warga & Fran Gerris (consultant) on visual and Mickey Kelly & Bob Findley on guard.

They disbanded in 1977.
