" JOANETTES
The Joanettes of Leominster, Mass., during the 1968 competition season, distinguished themselves in Class "A" as a fine upcoming all girl drum and bugle corps. They opened many an eye with their success against some of the finest corps in the east. During the season they placed second in the All-Girl Champs competition at the V.F.W. Nationals in Detroit and at the World Open.
On the completion of the 1968 season the Joanettes sustained a 60% turnover. At this time the corps was aided by the J's, their feeder corps, and new memberships, thus forming a larger contingent than that of the 1968 competing unit.
The only change in the instructional staff was that of the horn instructor. Richard Connor of Beverly, Mass., was approached to instruct the Joanettes horns because of his ability, experience, and outstanding education. The remainder of the instructors: Robert Harrington - M&M and Donald Boucher - drums remains the same.
The 1969 competition corps will consist of 54 marching horns, 17 drummers (including one timp-tom trio and one double bass), 25 guards and 3 drum majors."
