The Doremus Blue Demons drum & bugle corps was originally formed as the Dorunes in the fall of 1967 and was sponsored by the famed Doremus American Legion (AL) Post 55 of Hackensack, home of the Doremus senior drum & bugle corps.

In its’ inaugural year, the corps appeared as an exhibition unit in the NJ AL State championships, entering the state parade competition arena the following three seasons, winning the 1970 title, by then known as the Doremus Blue Demons. The corps initiated field competition in the 1972 NJ AL state championships, placing 14th and finished in 2nd position in the newly formed Pathfinder circuit.

The following season saw the corps compete in the 1973 World Open “Class B” preliminary round, where the Doremus group placed 17th while dominating the Pathfinder circuit. Over the next 4 years, the corps performed primarily as a competitive guard in the Liberty Bell circuit with occasional parade and exhibition appearances.

They disbanded in 1978.
