The Crimson Buccaneers drum and bugle corps came into existence in mid-summer of 1977 as a name change from the Falcon-Ridgemen, which itself was a merger of the Falcon Cadets of Elizabeth and the Ridgemen of Brooklyn in March of that same year.

In 1977, the corps competed in the World Open “Class A” championships, placing 22nd in the prelims and finished 15th in the DCI “Class A” preliminaries along with an 18th place finish in the United Organization of Eastern Corps circuit prelims and placed 3rd in the Garden State Circuit (GSC) championships.

The following year, the Crimson unit participated in the 1978 DCI East “Open Class” prelims, placing 34th and toured to both the US Open and DCI North “Open Class” preliminaries, where they finished in 24th and 15th respectively. They appeared in the DCI “Open Class” championships, placing 43rd in the prelims and closed out the season with a 5th place finish in the GSC competition.

The corps disbanded in 1979.
