The Challengers drum and bugle corps was founded in August of 1972 with Tom Holland as chairman.

The corps had loaned their brass instruments from another local unit and entered the field of competition with appearances at the 1973 OR American Legion state championships, placing 5^th and participated in a few Northwest Drum Corps Association “Class C” contests.

Unable to build a stable financial base, the corps disbanded in 1974.
