In 1983, the Gauchos of Fulton merged with the Greece Cadets of Rochester to form the Cadets of Upstate New York drum and bugle corps. Their uniforms were black and red with white trimmings.
The corps enjoyed success in 1983 as a finalist at the American International Open, where they placed 7th in the “Open Class” and added the US Open & Key to the Sea regional championships, finishing 5th and 6th respectively.
In 1984, the Cadets of Upstate New York merged with the Firebirds to form the Northmen.
