The Eastern Excelsior drum and bugle corps was formed in the fall of 1981 as an independent unit from Smithtown, Long Island. The corps entered the field of competition as members of the Garden State Circuit, where they placed 13th in the 1982 “Open Class” championships.
In 1983, the corps fused into the Long Island Grenadiers organization.
