The Cathedral High School Girls drum and bugle corps was founded in October 1932 by the Reverend T. Leo Keaveny, as he believed there should at least one organization for girls
 the school’s programs.

The corps was primarily a parade and exhibition unit but did participate in field competitions over the years. From the very beginning, the corps enjoyed success, participating at the 1933 MN American Legion and placed first at the VFW 6th District state convention that same year. Over the years, they gained in stature and became a well-known and “in-demand” unit, sporting their maroon and gold uniforms. By the end of the 30’s, the corps had changed to blue and gold skirts with gold tassel caps. They also wore the drab olive WWI helmets, painted blue.

Among their many accomplishments was their record 11 consecutive 1st place finishes at the annual Aquatennial “Aqua” parade from 1952 to 1962. They also competed in numerous MN VFW state championships, winning their fair share in the “Less than 35 members” division as well as several MN state Elks conventions. By the 60’s, the white oxfords were replaced by white boots.

The corps remained active throughout its existence, even during the World War II years and received hundreds of invitations in the Twin Cities, Winnipeg and the Blossom Festival in Washington. One time , the corps could not afford the transportation to a parade in Holdingford and were taken by cattle truck.

At the end of the 1970 season, the girls corps became an all-city corps and boys were admitted.
