The Bonnie Scots senior drum and bugle corps was originally formed in 1923 as the Steever R. Day AL Post 326 of Millersburg.

From their humble beginnings, they were primarily a parade unit until the end of the 1920’s when the corps converted to a junior group. In the fall of 1949, former members of the Post junior boys’ band and Sons of American Legion drum corps resurrected old equipment loaned out in the borough, raised money and made their initial appearance in 1950.

Their uniform consisted of white shirts and Legion caps as they performed in several parades that year before graduating to new uniforms in 1951 with white helmets, leggings with gray shirts and pants. The following year, the corps undertook a new vogue by introducing a new Scottish kiltie uniform, clad in red jackets and green Scottish plaid kilts and tall black plumes after the original pattern of the Gordon Highlander Clan.

In 1952, they hired the services of Robert J. Cooper as director and began to rise slowly up to local prominence, entering the field of competition in 1953 and became members of the Pen-Mar circuit, under the direction of Carl Truxal in 1954, as well as placing 4th at the PA AL state championships. After that season, the corps’ prowess began to fade, remaining active as a parade unit, for the exception of 1956, and participated in community events until 1959.

In 1960, the Bonnie Scots merged with the Westshoremen of  to the Westshoremen Bonnie Scots.
