The Dimensions drum & bugle corps was formed in the fall of 2000 as a “Division III” corps from Grand Rapids after a two-year absence of drum corps activity in the region.
They first started in 2001 as a parade unit and made their field debut in 2002 with their show 'Flesh Steel and Fury', music from Conan the Barbarian, participating in the Coast Guard Open regionals, where they placed in 20th position in the preliminary round. The following year saw the 30-member corps go on tour, sporting black and white uniforms with crossed silver belts, traveling to regionals in Dekalb and Chattanooga on their way to a 12th place finish in the DCI “Division III” prelims.
A tradition of the group was called the “Heart and Soul”, necklace that was given to the members at the end of the season, named by a 2002 age out member. They were presented the “heart” the first year, which was a red ball similar to dimensions logo, each year after they would get two beads added.
Unfortunately, the tradition was short-lived as they disbanded in 2004.
