The Firesiders drum and bugle corps was originally formed in 1957 as a color guard and sponsored by the Union Beach Fire Department.
In 1960, the corps reorganized as a drum and bugle corps, performing in parade & standstill competitions before entering the field of competition in 1963, sporting their yellow and black uniforms and participated in the 1964 World’s Fair parade and joined the Jersey Shore circuit, where they placed 2nd in the 1965 championships.
In 1966, the Union Beach Fire Company announced it would only support a parade corps and subsequently, several members joined the newly organized Bayshore Buccaneers of Union Beach.
