The Albert J. Hamilton American Legion (AL) Post 7 of Bellingham was established in 1922 and under the eventual direction of J. Harold Stevenson.
Over the first four years. the Bellingham Post was crowned the 1923 to 1926 AL state champions, sporting their uniforms consisting of white breeches and leggings with navy blue shirts. The corps would remain active until 1931 when they returned to the AL state convention with a 3rd place finish and was once again crowned the state champions for 1933 and 1934.
Between 1935 to 1938, the corps placed 2nd & 3rd in state competition, closing out the pre-World War II era by once again being crowned the 1939 and 1940 state titles. Upon return from WW2, the Hamilton Post was crowned the 1946 and 1948 state Legion champions with 2nd place finishes in 1947 1949 in 1950 along with 3rd place finishes in 1951 & 1952.
From 1953 through to 1960, the corps remained active, participating in several state championships until 1961, when the corps name was changed to the Fighting Falcons, a gimmick devised for the convention. The corps went on to place 4th in both the 1961 & 1962 state contests.
They disbanded in 1963.
