The Cavaliers drum and bugle corps was formed in 1961 as the Cadets de Drummondville drum and trumpet corps, under the direction of Francois Mathieu, who also played the role of musical director.
In 1962, the corps competed within the trumpet arena and converted the following season to a drum and bugle unit, known now as the Cavaliers. In their first season as a drum corps, they were active as a parade and exhibition group, traveling extensively throughout the province.
They entered the field of competition in 1964 as members of the Canadian Drum Corps Association and the International circuit. They were crowned the 1964 “Junior A” champions of the latter and endedthe year with a 3rd place finish at the Québec provincials.
In 1965, the Drummondville group participated once again at the International circuit championships and finished 6th in the “Class A” division of the Québec provincials. The next year saw the corps improve to a 2nd place finish at the 1966 Québec provincials before returning to parade status the next season.
They disbanded in 1968.
