The Cadets Champlain drum & bugle corps was formed in the fall of 1967 through the auspices of the “Garde Champlain d'Ottawa”.
In 1968, the corps performed as a parade group, making their debut on June 24th in Gatineau as part of the St. Jean Baptiste celebrations. In 1969, they were declared the Canadian National “Standstill” champions. In 1970, the Cadets Champlain entered the field of competition for one season, when they won the “Novice Class” division at the Canadian Nationals.
Over the course of their short existence, the staff included Gilles Villeneuve, corps director and Michel Bergeron, assistant corps director, Gilles Rousseau and Maurice Legault, musical directors and brass, Roch St-Jean on percussion and André Bergeron on visual.
In 1971, the corps merged with the Dynamiques of Buckingham to form the Ambassadeurs of Gatineau.
