The Capitol Brass Ensemble drum and bugle corps was originally formed in the fall of 1984 as the Knights of Noble Callahan and was located in Latham.
Within the first 8 months of existence, the corps competed in the 1985 International Corps Associates (ICA) circuit, placing in 8th position in their inaugural season. Beginning in 1986, the Knights participated in the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) preliminaries over the next three years, finishing 18th (1986), 20th (1987) and 17th (1988).
In the fall of 1988, the membership reorganized under new management, changing their name to the Capitol Brass Ensemble and eventually migrating to the greater Albany area. Beginning in 1989, as the corps steadily improved in competitive stature at the DCA championships, they improved from 17th that year to 15th in 1990 in preliminary action. Over the last few seasons, the Ensemble carried a full DCA schedule, finishing in 13th place in the DCA circuit in both 1991 and 1992, earning a DCA Associate membership in 1993 with a 12th place ranking and a spot in the finals. As a competitive field corps, a group of dedicated drum corps fanatics worked hard and sacrificed to build real progress along the way.
When the corps disbanded in 1994, an 18-piece unit called the "Brass-O-Mania" took its place in 2007 and the Capitol Brass mini-corps entered the stage of competition as members of the DCA "Mini-Corps" division until 2009. The "Brass-O-Mania" group continued to perform until 2017.
They disbanded in 2018.
