The Holy Rosary Caballeros drum and bugle corps were originally formed as the Holy Rosary Corps drum corps since at least 1946.
The corps was active for several years, entering the field of competition at the latest, 1956, when they were renamed the Holy Rosary Caballeros. The corps became members of many organizations including the All-American circuit in 1962 & the Northeastern circuit in 1965. The Holy Rosary unit placed 5th in the All-American championships in 1962 & 1963, 2nd in 1964 & won the 1965 title along with 6th & 7th place finishes in 1965 & 1966 respectively. The corps also won the State title from 1962 to 1965.
After a two-year hiatus, the corps reorganized in early January of 1969 and by the end of the month, had merged with the 77th Skylarks to form the Rhode Island Matadors.
