The Defenders drum and bugle corps was originally organized in October of 1980 as a drill team but quickly transformed into a field competitor, under the leadership of Donald R. Raymond.
In their inaugural season, they participated in the DCA preliminaries, placing 17th and followed up the next two years with 19th and 16th place finishes, in 1982 and 1983 respectively. They were also members of the newly formed ICA circuit, where they finished in 6th position in both the 1982 and 1983 championships.
They disbanded in 1984.
