The Pacific Palisades Imperials drum and bugle corps was originally formed as the Culver City Imperials through a merger in 1960 between the Californians of Orange County and the Statesmen of Culver City.
The corps, sporting their black cadet style uniform, captured the 1960 American Legion (AL) state championships, successfully defending their title the following season and participated in the 1961 Chinese New Year parade. The Culver City Imperials placed 2nd in the 1962 Legion state convention, when, the following year, they were adopted by the Palisades AL Post 283 as the Pacific Palisades Imperials and competed in the Legion state contests from 1963 to 1965.
They disbanded in 1966.
