The Board of Trade American Legion (AL) Post 304 first appeared AL Nationals in 1928 in San Antonio as well as the IL state convention, returning the following season in Louisville and the 1929 state championships. In 1930, the corps won the IL State Fair “Class A” title, finished 4th at the IL state contest and participated in the AL Nationals held in Boston, where they finished in 13th place in the prelims.

The following season was a rebuilding year for the corps, competing at the state convention in the “Class B” division and traveled to Detroit to compete at the 1931 AL Nationals, placing 19th in the preliminaries. Over the next two seasons, the corps continued its progression, competing locally, regionally and participated in the 1933 state convention.

In 1934, Post 304 finished 3rd at the IL State Fair and returned to the AL Nationals held in Miami, placing 15th in the prelims and narrowly missed out in the finals of the 1935 National championship, finishing 13th.

They disbanded in 1936.
