The George H. Hockett Post 127 was formed in the September of 1924, primarily as a ceremonial corps.

In 1925, the corps participated at the American Legion Nationals’ parade in Omaha before going inactive for the next two seasons. The Anderson Post reorganized in the fall of 1927, entering the field of competition in 1928 with 3rd place finish at the IN AL state championships. The following season, the corps placed 2nd in state competition and participated at the AL Nationals’ parade in Louisville.

In 1930, Post 127 experienced their most successful season at the state championships, winning their first and only title and competed once again at the Legion Nationals held in Boston, placing 33rdThe corps played host to the 1931 state championships and was not eligible to compete that year and appeared at the 1932 state convention in their new West Point uniforms, placing 3rdThe 1933 season saw the corps finish in 5th position at the state championships before placing 3rd for the next three years, including a 39th place finish at the 1936 AL Nationals in Cleveland. 

Their color guard won top honors in both the 1935 and 1936 state competitions. In 1937, the corps entered the state championships after serious preparations but pulled out of the contest, opting to perform at the parade only. In their final appearances in state competition, they placed 6th in 1938 and 7th in 1939 and remained active for the 1940 season.

They disbanded in 1941.
