The Clique Alouette junior drum & bugle corps was formed originally in 1952 by the Brother Lucien Lefebvre and musical director Paul-Eugène Roy. They were sponsored by the Patro de Laval community center.
Marcel Pageot was also one of the early founders of the group and Guy Côté was drum major and choreographer. The corps was formed amid the influences of the Preston Scout House's appearance in Shawinigan in 1951, converting from a school band, whose membership was declining due to a lack of interest.
They were the first drum and bugle corps in the province of Québec and largely influenced de founding of several other Patros both regionally and provincially, including Roc-Amadour, Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Charlesbourg and Lévis. They carried glockenspiels and therefore didn’t qualify for drum and bugle corps competition. They did, however, form a competitive association within the Patros by the mid-50’s that lasted until 1961.
From their inception, the corps was renowned for its entertainment, unique sound and crowd-pleasing shows. They traveled over 30,000 miles, performing throughout the provinces of Québec, Ontario and New Brunswick as well as many cities in the United States. On December 10th, 1962, the Brother LeFebvre was transferred to the ministry in Jonquière and replaced by Brother Després.
In 1968, they ceased operations but resumed its activities, participating in a few parades, including the infamous Québec Carnival in 1976 and 1977 as an alumni corps. In the fall of 1982, after competing 4 seasons as an “All Age” corps, they reorganized as a junior competitive corps for the 1983 season, participating in the FAMQ “Class A” circuit and remained active as a parade unit the next year.
The junior corps disbanded in 1985. An alumni corps was organized in 2008 and remained active until at least 2024.
