The Éclipses “All-Girls” drum and bugle corps was founded in 1967 and originally based in Laflèche as a parade and exhibition unit, under the leadership of Gilles Gendron and Rolland Paquette.
They entered the field of competition in at least 1971 and became members of both the 1972 Canada Central Circuit, where they were crowned the “Class B” champions and the newly formed FAMQ circuit, finishing in 2nd position in the “Class B” division. The following year, the corps was a member of the member of the Canadian Drum Corps Association & Greater New England circuits. They also competed in the 1973 World Open “All-Girls” class, finishing in 7th position in the preliminary round. In 1974, they placed 2nd in the FAMQ “All-Girls” finals before going inactive the following season due to administrative disputes.
The corps resumed activity with Rolland Paquette as corps director in 1976, participating in the Canadian Capital Open, finishing 9th in the finals, the World Open “All-Girls” prelims, placing 6th and the “Circuit Junior A du Québec” (CMQJ), where they ranked 5th in the finals. In their last year of competition, they had lost membership but managed to compete regionally in both FAMQ and Upstate New York circuit contests. Over the years, their instructional staff included Daniel Bleau on visual, Jacques Dupras & Jacques Renaud on percussion and Denis Plouffe on brass.
In 1978, the corps reorganized as a coed group under the name “Éclipses of Verdun”.
