The Fajardo drum and bugle corps was formed in 1970 as a parade unit based in the Bronx and in 1974 was sponsored by the Bedford Stuyvesant “Youth in Action” Community program.

The group entertained in parades and exhibitions until 1986, when they began field competition as members of the Garden State Circuit (GSC), winning the “Intermediate Class” title as the “Youth in Action” drum corps and moved up to the 1987 GSC “Class A” division, placing 2nd as the Fajardo. The corps also was also crowned the Drum Corps New York “Class A” champions and made their first appearance in the DCI East “Class A/60” division, finishing in 7th position.

Over the next 2 seasons, the unit participated in the DCI East “Class A/60” regional, placing 4th in 1988 &  6th in 1989, competed in the 1990 DCI “Class A/60” preliminary round, where they finished 15th and had the honor of performing in a New York ticker-tape parade honoring Nelson Mandela in June of 1990, an event witnessed by some two million people.

They were also members of the Drum Corps East (DCE) circuit, placing 5th in the 1991 “Class A/60” division, returned to a 3rd place finish in the DCI East and 10th position ranking in “Class A/60” competition, closing out the season as GSC “Class A” champions.

They disbanded in 1992.
