The Blackhawk White Tornadoes drum and bugle corps was the result of a merger between the Blackhawks of Kankakee and the White Tornadoes of Momence for the 1973 season, based in Kankakee.
The corps performed throughout the Midwest and the Great Lakes areas. Their season culminated with a tour to New Orleans for the VFW National championships, where they placed 18th. The tour was completed with a competition in Rockford, sponsored by the Phantom Regiment.
In the fall of 1973, both corps split and reorganized as separate units.
