The Dorsey-Liberty American Legion (AL) Post 14 drum and bugle corps was originally formed in the fall of 1921 as the Eli Ferrell Dorsey AL Post 14 of Lawrence.
The corps competed in the 1921 AL Nationals and remained active intermittently over the next 10 years, before returning to the competitive field in the 1933 state convention, placing 2nd as the Dorsey-Liberty Post. The unit continued to participate in the annual state contests, placing 3rd from 1934 to 1938, except for 1935 & 1939, where the group ranked out of the “Top 3”.
The Dorsey Post went inactive in 1940 and reorganized in 1955, competing one last time in the KS Legion state convention, placing 2nd.
They disbanded in 1956.
