The Assumption Cadets drum and bugle corps was formed in the fall of 1956 and sponsored by Our Lady of Assumption church in East Boston. They were an extension of the “All Girls” drill team.

Over the first three seasons, the corps participated in several parades and exhibitions including the prestigious New York City St. Patrick’s parade in 1957 and the Amvet State convention parade in 1959. They were a member of the Eastern Massachusetts (E-Mass) circuit and in 1960 entered the field of competition in the “Class A2” division, placing 4th.

They continued their progression the following year with new black and red uniforms, finishing 6th in the 1962 E-Mass “Class A2” division. In 1963, the corps placed 3rd in the “Class A2” division and moved up to the “Class A1” division in 1964 but didn’t qualify for the E-Mass finals. They also joined the CYO “Class B” circuit that year, finishing 3rd.

They disbanded in 1965.
