In 1980, the Defenders Juniors of Rockland merged with the Scarlet Knights of Bridgewater to form the Defending Knights drum and bugle corps.
They remained the feeder corps for the Defenders and competed in the 1980 World Open championships, placing 18th in the “Class B” prelims were crowned both the Catholic Youth Organization “Junior Division” (CYO) and Eastern Massachusetts “Class C” (E-Mass) circuit champions. The next year, the Knights finished in 4th position in the 1981 E-Mass “Class C” finals.
The corps fused into the Defenders in 1982.
