The Buccaneers drum and bugle corps was originally a senior unit that converted to a junior corps in the fall of 1962, often also under the name of the Junior Buccaneers.
The corps began modest field competition in 1963 within the New England region and participated at the 1964 World Open championships, placing 39th in the preliminaries. The following season, the corps was under a new management team, led by John McGuire, competed in the 1965 Maine American Legion state championships, finishing in 3rd position.
In the fall of 1965, the corps attempted to remain active by combining both the junior and former senior members, creating an “All-Age” corps. However, the venture didn’t succeed, and the Buccaneers disbanded in 1966.
