The Fair Lawn Cadets, nicknamed the “Law Men” was formed in October of 1959 when the St. Anne’s Parish of Fair Lawn decided to no longer fund the Cadet corps. The corps, known as the Fair Lawn Police Cadets, received new sponsorship under the Fair Lawn Police Benevolent Association (PBA) Local 67, under the direction of Sergeant Charkes Pearson.

The Fair Lawn unit began field competition in 1960 and joined the Hudson Berkshire circuit in 1961 as the Lawmen. The next year saw the corps affiliate with the “Penn-Jersey” circuit, where they placed 8th in 1962 along with a 5th place finish in the New Jersey American Legion (AL) state convention. The following season, the group participated in the first annual World Open championships held in 1963 and finished in 15th position in the preliminary round.

In 1964, the corps started out the season as the Lawmen but by mid-July had reorganized as the Fair Lawn Cadets, competing once again in the World Open regional, placing 25th in the prelims and finished 9th in the Penn-Jersey contest. The Cadets, under sponsorship from the Harry Coppendyke AL Post 171 of Fair Lawn, closed out their final year of competition as members of the Penn-Jersey circuit, hosting the 1965 championships.

They disbanded in 1966.
