The First Corps Cadets drum and bugle traced its origins back to February of 1973, when the Annunciators Juniors, feeder corps for the Annunciators First Corps Cadets, was formed.
After their initial year of activity as a parade corps, the Juniors joined the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) “Class C” circuit, finishing in 3rd position in 1974. The following year saw the corps split from the main unit and reorganize as the First Corps Cadets.
The group competed in the “Junior Division” of the CYO circuit in their first 2 seasons, placing 2nd in 1975 & 3rd in 1976 the Cadets moved up to the “Class B” division and ended their 1977 & 1978 competitive seasons in the “Battle of Champions” “Class B” championships, finishing in 8th position in 1978.
In 1979, the corps resumed their previous association with the Annunciators to form the Cavalliers of Somerville.
