The Eagles drum and bugle corps had it's infant beginning on a hot afternoon on August 4th, 1979, when Saginaires corps director Bob Waskoviak, and several other adults were talking about starting a feeder corps. Bob asked George Farner to take the job of building a feeder corps and he eagerly accepted the responsibility and immediately began putting together a working group. By the end of that tour, George had enlisted the support of Connie Ellsworth as treasurer, Mike Vierow as corps director of the Saginaire Eagles.

During the winter of 1979 and the spring of 1980, the staff grew and the membership drive was on. The feeder unit at first limited their activities to parades and standstill concerts in Michigan, entering the field of competition in 1983 as members of the Great Lakes circuit “Class B” division. Competing with a membership of 8 to 13 years of age and sporting a uniform consisting of green and white shirts, black pants and black and silver shakos topped with black plumes, they went on to 2nd place finishes in 1983 & 1984.

The next season saw the corps renamed the Eagles as they followed suit with the  “Senior” corps, dropping mention of Saginaw, as the membership began to expand. They placed 3rd in the 1985 Great Lakes “Class B” and improved to a 2nd place finish in 1986. In their last year of competition, the group competed locally in early July of 1987. Over the years, they Eagles were sponsored by the Saginaires Booster Club and the Chemical City VFW Post 3651 of Midland.

They disbanded in1988.
