The Explorers drum and bugle corps was originally formed as the Explorer Scouts and sponsored by the Explorer Scouts Post 1 of Oxford.
The corps performed as a parade and exhibition unit until 1963 and entered the field of competition as the Explorers, under the direction of John Andrachuck, who would lead the corps during the next 20 years, participating in the 1964 World Open championships, placing 28th in the “Class A” contest. They were also members of the Hudson Berkshire circuit and returned to parade status over the next 5 years.
In 1971, the corps re-entered the field as members of the Greater New York (GNY) circuit and ranked 14th in the 1972 GNY championships before converting once again as a parade and exhibition group.
They disbanded in 1978.
