The Bayonne Cadets drum and bugle corps was originally formed as the St. Andrew’s Kidets, feeder corps for the St. Andrew’s Bridgemen in 1966.
The Kidets, of junior high age, were taught the basics and performed in parades. Their training furnished the Bridgemen with well prepared and enthusiastic musicians. The corps remained active under the St. Andrew’s sponsorship until 1976, when they went through a restructuring and became known as the Bayonne Kidets.
They continued to perform as a feeder parade and exhibition corps until 1985 when, in an effort to create a new image, the corps entered the field of competition as the Bayonne Cadets. They were members of the Garden State “Intermediate Class” circuit, placing 3rd in that division.
In 1986, the main corps went inactive and the Cadets disbanded.
