The Demons drum and bugle corps was formed in 1952 and sponsored by the Baker-Stengel American Legion (AL) Post 319 and the VFW Post 3765, both of Toledo . The corps’ colors were red, black and white.
They were a perennial competitor in the AL Legion state convention championships, placing between 3rd to 6th from 1953 to 1956, followed by 4 consecutive 2nd place finishes from 1957 to 1960. They participated in the finals of the 1960 VFW Nationals as well as winning the State title that same year capturing another 7 consecutive VFW state titles from 1961 to 1967.
The Demons transitioned their base location from Toledo to Maumee on their way to being crowned the 1962 Buckeye State circuit champions. From 1963 to 1967, the corps was awarded the AL state titles, adding the Midwest Senior circuit championships from 1965 to 1968. They also participated in the 1966 AL Nationals, where they positioned 9th in the preliminaries and closed out their history as charter members of the Red Carpet Association, placing 8th in the championships. The corps sponsored a contest annually, the Maumee Valley championships.
They disbanded in 1970.
