CORPS Photos

The Gulf Coast Sound (GSC) drum and bugle corps, based in Houston, was born out of the desire to help the Bayou City Blues (BCB) recruit in 2001.

During their first two years, the corps experimented with the concept of an indoor unit combined with an indoor “Winter Guard”, resulting in a “Winter Corps”. They participated in the 2002 & 2003 DCA “Mini-Corps” championships, placing 8th both years. The experiment worked out extremely well and acted as a springboard for GSC to transition into a full-fledged competitive corps in 2004.

From 2004 to 2008, the corps competed within the DCA circuit, placing 4th in the annual DCA South championships during that time and participated in the preliminary rounds of the DCA “Class A” contests, finishing 6th (2004), 8th (2005), 7th (2006-2007) & 9th (2008). The corps remained active in parades and exhibitions from 2009 to 2012.

They disbanded in 2013.
