The existence of the new Memphis Blues Drum Corps was announced in February of 2023 as a SoundSport team returning the drum corps activity to Memphis. The corps director and one of the other staff members are alumni of the former Memphis Blues Brass Band (1980-83).
In 2024, the corps and Zephyrus entered into an evaluation period for entry into the DCI Open Class.
Following completion of the first year of evaluation, the corps became an Associate Member of the DCI Open Class for 3035.
