The First Defenders drum and bugle corps was originally formed in 1995 and based in Wilmington, Delaware and relocated to Gloucester, NJ in June of 1996.
In their inaugural season of competition, the corps performed in the 1996 North American Open championships, placing 29th in the “Division II/III” class and received sponsorship from the borough community ambulance association in December 1996, relocating once again to Paulsboro. The First Defenders became a member of the Garden State Circuit “Division III” class, finishing 7th in 1997 & 4th in 1998. The corps remained active the next year as a parade unit.
The corps disbanded in 2000.
