The Amboy Dukes drum & bugle corps was formed in 1958 and performed in parades and exhibitions in their inaugural year.
In 1959, they entered the field of competition and finished in 3rd position at the Yankee circuit championships in Agawam and placed 5th at the NJ American Legion. The following season, the corps competed at the New England circuit championships in Agawam, placing 6th, returning once again to the host Agawam under the latest name change of the circuit, then known as the Northeastern circuit, finishing in 5th position in 1961.
In 1962, the corps enjoyed a very successful year with 2nd place finishes at both the Northeastern and New Jersey American Legion championships. Amboy Dukes was once again a finalist at the 1963 Northeastern championships, placing 5th as well as a finalist at the World Open Senior championships, finishing 8th.They were renowned for their superb drum line.
In 1964, the Amboy Dukes were unable to field a corps and fused into the Ballantine Brewers organization.
