The Canadian Knights drum & bugle corps was formed in 1974 as the Golden Knights. They were a feeder parade corps for the Krescendos.

In 1978, the Krescendos went inactive, leaving the feeder corps as an independent organization. They entered standstill competition that year in the “Novice Class” at the Canadian National championships, placing 2nd. In 1979, the Knights were reorganized by a small but experienced group of local drum corps individuals and the name was changed to the Canadian Knights. They went on to win the Canada “C” circuit title and finished 2nd at the 1979 Canadian Nationals “Bantam Class”.

They continued their climb in 1980 by competing in the “Junior Cadet Class” of the Ontario Drum Corps Association (ODCA), remaining active in 1981 as a parade unit. In 1982, the corps won the “Cadet Class” at the Canadian Nationals and both the “Class B” Canadian and Provincial titles in 1983 as well as participating in the DCI Canada “Class A” championships, placing 11th in the prelims, the American International Open (AIO), finishing 2nd in the finals and the US Open, as a 6th place finalist.

In 1984, the corps enjoyed great success by winning both the AIO and US Open “Class A” titles before finishing 2nd at the DCI “Class A” championships and qualified for the DCI quarterfinals, placing 23rd. They concluded the season with the Canadian Nationals “Class A” title. Not to be outdone, the corps defended their US Open “Class A” title on their way to another 2nd place finish at the 1985 DCI “Class A” championships and a 16th place finish at the DCI quarterfinals. They also were a finalist at the DCI Canada regionals, placing 8th and finished 2nd at the Canadian Nationals “Class A” contest.

The following year was deemed their Cinderella season, as the corps competed to a 14th place finish at the DCI Canada “Open Class” prelims an won the coveted 1986 DCI “Class A” title along with a 24th place finish at the DCI semifinals, earning them “Top 25” status in the activity. They completed the year with a 2nd place finish at the Canadian Nationals “Class A” championships. In 1987, the corps moved up to the “Open Class” division where they competed at the preliminaries of the US Open, placing 14th along with 16th place finishes at both the DCI East and DCI Canada regionals. They ranked 18th at the DCI quarterfinals and ended the season with yet another 2nd place finish at the 1987 Canadian Nationals “Class A” finals.

In 1988, the corps ceased operations but reorganized in 1991 as a parade corps, winning the Canadian Nationals “Parade Class”. The following season saw the corps move up to field competition with appearances at the Ontario provincials, placing 1st in the “Division IV” class, the Canadian Open prelims, where they finished in 20th position and finally the 1992 Canadian Nationals “Class B” contest, placing 3rd.  In 1993, the corps entered the “Division III” class where the y progressed to a 7th place finish at the Canadian Open prelims and a 16th place at the DCI championships. They finished the year by finishing 4th at the Canadian Nationals. In their final year of competition, the Canadian Knights classed 16th at the DCI “Division III” preliminaries and 4th at the Canadian Nationals “Division III” championships.

They disbanded in 1995.
