The Aventuriers drum & bugle corps was initially formed as a parade and exhibition unit in 1974.
They performed locally in their first three seasons before entering the field of competition in 1978 and were crowned the CCMQ “Class C” champions in their inaugural season. The following year, the corps moved up to the “Class B” division competing at the World Open preliminaries, placing 13th and finished in 9th position in the prelims of both the CCMQ and FAMQ championships.
In 1980, Aventuriers returned to the World Open and successfully qualified for the “Class B” finals, placing 7th and competed at both the Canadian Nationals “Open Class” division, finishing in 12th position and the FAMQ “Class A” championships with a 9th place finish. The corps advanced into World Open “Class A” action in 1981, placing 12th in the prelims and made their first appearance at the DCI “Class A” championship preliminaries with a 9th place finish. The year culminated with a 4th place finish at the FAMQ “Class A” championships.
The 1982 season saw the corps compete at their first Drum Corps East (DCE) championships, placing 20th and returned to the DCI “Class A” prelims, posting a 21st place finish. The next two seasons were considered as rebuilding years for the corps, competing in the FAMQ “Class A” division in 1983 and “Class C” in 1984, placing in the finals. The reconstruction proved fruitful as the corps finished 3rd at the 1985 DCE “Class A” championships and won the FAMQ “Class B” title.
In 1986, Aventuriers at the DCE as a 12th place finalist and made an appearance at the DCI Canada “Open Class” championships with a 20th place finish. That year, they were also crowned the FAMQ “Class A” champions. The last two seasons found the corps returning to the 1987 FAMQ “Class B” division as a 2nd place finalist and competed at the 1988 DCI “Class A/60” division, placing 13th and concluded the season with a 5th place finish at the FAMQ “Class A” championships.
The drum corps portion of the organization disbanded in 1989 but they attempted to make a comeback by fielding a marching band, a “one season” venture in 1990 that had very limited success. They did run a successful winter guard, ranking as a finalist in the WGI circuit over the next few years.
