In 1957, Edward Louis Hicok, former mayor of Newton, was one of the founders of the Broadcasters drum and bugle corps.
From 1958 to 1967, the corps performed as a parade and exhibition corps, entering the field of competition in 1968 as members of the Garden State Circuit (GSC). They placed 13th in the championships. Continuing their growth within the GSC, they were members of the Pathfinder circuit for the 1972 and 1973 seasons and a perennial competitor at the NJ American Legion state championships from 1971 to 1976, placing between 11th to 19th over the years.
In 1975, Robert J. Blanchard became the corps director as the corps reverted back to parade status in 1977, disbanding in 1985.
