The Brass Regiment drum and bugle corps was organized in the fall of 1966 by former members of the Park Falls Dukes of Muskyland senior parade corps. Sponsors of the corps over the years were the Heisler Mockler VFW Post 6903 and the Fran Dirrgl-Richard G. Sawles American Legion Post 182.
In their inaugural season of activity, the corps participated in several local parades and exhibitions, enlisting as members of the Badgerland circuit in 1968. The following year saw the Regiment enter the field of competition as they played at the infamous “Spectacle of Music” in Milwaukee, finishing 23rd in the preliminaries.
Over the next three seasons, the corps continued its progression, including appearances at the WI American Legion state championships. In 1973, they participated in the World Pageant of Drums, sponsored by the WI State Fair, placing 22nd in the prelims and followed the next year with an appearance at the 1974 VFW Nationals in Chicago, finishing in 21st. The Brass Regiment contested at the 1975 American Legion Nationals, held in Minneapolis, placing 24th in preliminary action and ended their field competitive status in 1976, primarily in regional contests.
They remained active the following year before disbanding in 1978.
