The Flamingos drum and bugle corps was originally formed in January 1955 as the Sullivan-Babcock American Legion (AL) Post 32 of Hialeah.

The corps performed in parades and exhibitions for the first few years, entering the field of competition in the 1958 AL state convention, when they were crowned “Class B” champions. The following season saw the corps renamed as the Flamingos, under the same sponsorship of the Hialeah Legion, representing Post 32 in the 1960 AL Nationals, where they placed in 9th position and the 1961 VFW Nationals, finishing in 25th place in the preliminary round. The corps pursued competition over the last 2 years, placing 4th in the 1963 AL state “Class B” championships.

They disbanded in 1964.
